For some years now Pampas Plains has been "bringing home the beef" to an ever increasing number of loyal and valued customers who enjoy food grown in the traditional way. In that time there has been a growing interest in the extensive range of premium quality wines now available from Argentina, and frequent requests that we expand our range to reflect this. Given the fact that the Argentines eat a lot beef, and love their wine with it, it seems only natural that we should be able to enjoy them as well. Argentina is, in fact, the fourth largest producer of wine in the world and has many years of winemaking experience. In the past we never got to see a great deal of it, mainly because the locals were pretty keen on it themselves, so there was little motivation to look for markets overseas. However, the huge success of Chile's wine exports not only pricked the interest of the incumbent wine producers, but also brought interest in from both overseas investors and buyers, resulting in the investment necessary to start exporting to discerning UK wine lovers such as yourselves. Argentina is naturally blessed with fantastic wine making resources. High up in the foothills of the Andes, the terroir is ideally suited to growing grapes. Stony, mineral laden soils, pure ice-melt water, long sunny days and clear cool nights are ideally suited to producing wines that are undoubtedly New World in their expression, but Old World in their character and complexity. The dry climate means in general fewer diseases, and so fewer chemicals are needed. At Pampas Plains we have objectively selected a wide range of wines for you, many of course very well suited to our beef. But even we realise not everyone can eat beef for every meal. So we have also included many wines that can be drunk with the full range of international fare we are so privileged to enjoy. What's more, there are a few that are best drunk just by themselves, or with friends of course. We hope you enjoy them, The Pampas Plains Team
