Fincas Patagónicas prides itself on its mix of high technology and expert vineyard husbandry. With a consistent climate and many hours of sun, they can maintain quality through the coolness of neighbouring glaciers. Their winery’s aim is to marry the best of modern and traditional winemaking techniques, in order to make what they hope will be the best wines to come out of Argentina. Their signature grape is the Malbec, but they also grow and make wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are located in Agrelo, Tupungato, Ugarteche and Maipù, although they have also recently acquired new vineyard in the Cafayate region of Salta, where they are growing Torrontés at an altitude of 2000 meters.
Their winemaker, Fabián Valenzuela has had more than 20 years experience He grew up in a vineyard and worked in Bodegas Balbo until 1997 and from 1997 to 2003 in Catena. Fabián is a believer in terroir, perhaps from his time working the harvest with Louis Jadot in Beaune and with Bodegas Miguel Torres in Penedes (Spain).
