This mixed case consists of 4 bottles each of the Land of Fire Chardonnay Torrontéa, Altivo Malbec Rosé Finca Eugenio Bustos and the Picada 15 Red Blend 2007 NQN.

Land of Fire (aka Tierra de Luna) Chardonnay Torrontés 2008: A delicate nose leads on to a medium bodied white wine with hints of buttery chardonnay on the palate well balanced with the more aromatic and intriguing Torrontés. This is a easy-drinking wine that could be enjoyed by itself or with simple chicken or fish dishes.

Picada 15 Red Blend: If you are unable to decide your favourite varietal, then this blend gives you a taste of four of the leading international and Argentine varietals. The menagerie of grapes produces an offspring that is elegant, smooth and perhaps just a little intriguing as each of the flavours registers on the palate. It is the minority ingredient, the Pinot Noir, which appears to bring the more unruly siblings under control to make this easy to drink on its own or with a simple meat dish. The blend is as follows: Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (30%), Malbec (20%), Pinto Noir (10%).

Altivo Malbec Rosé: Deep pink, delicate strawberry aromas, intense cherries and strawberries on the palate, with a fresh, vibrant finish.  When I tasted this wine in February on a cold, wet day I instantly dreamt of sitting at a table with a group of friends, eating the best the BBQ can offer. There is nothing subtle about this rosé but the lovely, summery fruits are well supported with refreshing acidity making this ideal either for the lazy summer days, or for dreaming of them in the winter with a hearty stew or casserole.
