Tapiz Torrontes, 2008 Bodega Tapiz |
|
Award winning wine and a perfect introduction to the Torrontés grape. In a similar vein to Alsace varietals, this wine has a spicy and floral nose with a hint of tropical fruit, and then on the palate its dry but complex with rose petal, smoke, spice and a hint of honeysuckle. This is a great wine that is intensely drinkable by itself, or with elegant oriental dishes. The most recent acolade was from Decanter who gave it the International Dry Aromatic under £10 trophy. The producer's notes read as follows: REGION Famatina Valley, La Rioja VINEYARDS The vineyards are located in the Famatina Valley, 1000 to 1400 meters (3281 and 4593 feet) above sea level with a sandy and alluvial soil. FERMENTATION A protective method (absence of oxygen during the process is applied). Slow Alcoholic fermentation takes place under low temperatures. Acidity is corrected in order to keep aromatic intensity and the natural residual sugar. No malolactic fermentation. TASTING NOTES Bright yellow with touches of green tints. Our emblematic Torrontés reveals delicate and intense aromas of flowers and tropical fruits. It is fresh and well balanced with a round and persistent finish. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Alcohol 13.8 % |
